ABUJA: Blessing wanted to believe the advert on Facebook that promised “a cure for AIDS”.

Infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), she felt the ad was her only hope, so against her better judgement, she clicked on the link.

The 30-year-old Nigerian had created a fake profile on the social networking site in the hope of contacting a traditional healer who would be familiar with modern technology.

For 100,000 naira (RM1,136) – more than five times the monthly minimum wage – she was promised a plant-based potion that would completely eradicate the disease.

Sceptical, Blessing asked for more time and a face-to-face meeting. Instead, her would-be benefactor asked for her bank account details.

That was several months ago.

“He talked only about money, so I gave up,” said Blessing, whose name has been changed at her request. “But I was ready to try.”

“There are so many people giving positive testimonies about the drug,” she told AFP in a soft voice.

Since then, with the distribution in Nigeria of free antiretroviral treatments that repress, but do not eliminate the virus, Blessing has been able to finish her studies in sociology in Abuja.

She said she now feels more comfortable with her HIV-positive status, but while she has a few business projects, the hardest thing has been finding a boyfriend.

“I was desperate. Any relationship I wanted to be in was difficult. I know I have to live with the virus,” she said.

Despair and stigma for people living with HIV make them easy targets for a range of supposed miracle workers, including internet scams, in deeply religious Nigeria.

Not a month goes by without a Christian pastor announcing that a follower has been “saved”.

In Lagos, a commercialized metropolis of more than 20 million people, vast and imposing evangelical churches have become a magnet for the sick from across Africa.

Among the most well-known faith healers is T. B. Joshua, who runs the Synagogue Church of All Nations, and whose popularity has earned him a multimillion-dollar fortune.

He takes pride in his claims of having cured people of AIDS and even in bringing the dead back to life.

His website is full of testimonies about his apparent powers of prophecy.

One of his TB Joshua Ministries page on Facebook is titled: “AIDS kicked out with prayer.”

“Mr Ubon Augustine is a living testimony that no disease can escape the healing power of Jesus Christ,” it reads. “He was healed of HIV/Aids through a prayer… Thank You Jesus!”

Others also claim to have found the scientific cure for HIV, publishing research in obscure journals.

One such assertion, from a professor at an agricultural university in the southeastern state of Abia, garnered significant coverage in the Nigerian news media earlier this year.

Maduike Ezeibe claimed that after 25 years of research, he had successfully tested a drug he had developed on patients.

“Nigeria is thus (the) first country to get 10 people (to) recover from HIV/AIDS,” he was quoted as saying by Nigeria’s Guardian newspaper in March.

Nigeria’s health agencies condemn such claims on the grounds of the “absence of sound scientific evidence” as well as the dramatic effects on patients if they stop taking conventional treatment.

HIV levels can fall to below detectable levels with the help of a daily pill, but rebound when the treatment is stopped.

The viruses swiftly reproduces to attack immune cells, exposing the body to opportunistic disease and worsening the risk of infecting others.

“If someone thinks he is cured of the virus when on the contrary he still has the virus, the risk of transmission will be higher,” said Daniel Ndukwe of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS.

“We have had people claim they were cured of HIV by miracle healing, and we have also heard of those who later had a deterioration of their health afterward,” he said.

No formal study has been undertaken in Nigeria to explore the phenomenon but there is no doubt that many have seen a market for apparent miracle cures.

According to UNAIDS, the prevalence of HIV among adults in Nigeria was 2.9% in 2016, which is relatively low compared to countries such as South Africa (18.9%).

But the actual number of people living with the condition – 3.2 million – is among the highest in the continent.

Emmanuel Ugochukwu Michael, the founder of a matchmaking agency for people with HIV, says he is regularly approached by people asking for his 7,000-name database.

“I receive a lot of calls from traditional doctors and mainly from pastors,” he said.

“They invite me for a dinner and promise to pay me money if I provide them phone numbers of my clients,” he added.

“It’s a lot of temptation. It gives me a lot of sleepless nights, I can tell you.

“There’s huge money to be made and everybody wants to take advantage of it.”

       One of the biggest deceptions in modern times is fake healing. Literally, fake healing has become a billion-dollar-a-year industry. Benny Hinn alone rakes in close to $200,000,000 each year. Pat Robertson's THE 700 CLUB, Paul and Jan Crouch on TBN, James Robison's LIFE FOR TODAY, Mike Murdock, Peter Popoff, Don Stewart, Morris Cerullo, Kenneth Copeland, and a host of other TV preachers are all wolves in sheep's clothing! They all deceive the sick and misfortunate for FILTHY LUCRE!

So many people who have permanent disabilities, terminal illness, and incurable diseases are drawn into Charismatic fake healing services, many donating everything they have, thinking that God will heal them because a false preacher said so.

The Bible plainly exposes these imposters in 2nd Peter 2:3, “ And THROUGH COVETOUSNESS shall they with feigned words MAKE MERCHANDISE OF YOU: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” “Through covetousness” means that TV preachers appeal to the audience's desire to obtain health, wealth, and prosperity; to exploit the listeners, teaching that “the way to get is to give.” Most people who donate money to these buzzards are expecting health, wealthy, and prosperity (or one of these things) in return for a donation. People are errantly taught that giving is faith and more faith (giving) brings greater rewards. In reality, TV preachers are filthy rich, while the people who support them are sick, broke and misfortunate.

Is There Physical healing in the Atonement?Isaiah 53:4
Question: In Isaiah 53:4 it says,
“surely he (Christ) hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.”
I was told that the word “griefs” in Hebrews means sickness and “sorrows” means disease. Also, I was told that the healing is in the atonement; so, after I am a Christian, I won't have any more sickness. Is this right?
Answer: So-called  “faith healers” thrive on this verse, deceiving many people. It is true “griefs” means sickness, and “sorrows” means diseases. This prophecy only concerns the Lord Jesus Christ and the physical healings He would do prior to the cross, as evidence He was the Jewish Messiah. All the healings Christ performed fulfilled this prophecy as evidenced by Matthew 8:16,17,

“They brought unto him (Christ) many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word and healed ALL that were sick: (16) That it might be FULFILLED which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bear our sicknesses.”

Now, in Isaiah 53:5 we have the healing that is in the atonement: His death on the cross and His Resurrection. This is spiritual healing, or salvation; not physical healing.

“But he (Christ) was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Peter makes this perfectly clear in 1 Peter 2:24,
“Who his own self BARE OUR OWN SINS in his (Christ's) own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
The healing in the atonement is salvation; not physical healing.

        I have personally challenged many so-called “faith-healers” to go to the hospitals with me and heal all those little children that are sick. None have accepted, so far. What comforting truths! Matthew 8:16 plainly tells us that Isaiah 53:4 does not teach physical healing for everyone. The Bible plainly reveals that Isaiah 53:4 was only referring to the healing ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ... “That it might be FULFILLED which was spoken by Esaias the prophet.”

And again in 1st Peter 2:24 we learn that the phrase “with his stripes we are healed” in Isaiah 53:5 is referring to salvation; not physical healing... “Who his own self BARE OUR OWN SINS in his (Christ's) own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

I suffer in physical pain every day of my life, with agonizing toothache-like pain in my neck. Doctors have tried all the conventional methods to make the pain go away, but it is still there. My arms tingle all the time into the fingers, and at times I feel sharp pain radiating down my arms and legs. My neck is constantly tight from contracting muscles, because something is wrong in my neck. It may be the bones spurs. I am hoping to undergo a 3rd surgery later this year in 2011, this time endoscopic surgery, Lord willing. Despite 100 mg. of Oxycontin daily, my pain is still constant and debilitating at times. It is my “thorn in the flesh” and may be God's will to remain. If so, I accept it in the Lord. I love Him either way.

While on an airplane going to get my 2nd surgery, I sat next to (of all people) a Charismatic assistant Pastor from Colorado (he was about 60 years old). He said his pastor is a Korean woman, and they have a healing center there. The man said his pastor receives visions from Jesus, who told her to become a pastor, and predicted that North Korea would attack the U.S. soon. After chatting for a short time, he said that if I had enough faith I wouldn't need surgery. I felt sad when he said that, being in physical pain at the time. I told him he was wrong, and that healing was not promised in the Bible. God gave us doctors and surgeons to help us.

He claimed that he had witnessed the blind see, and the deaf hear, and the lame walk at some remote location in Mexico. I asked if he had video-taped any of it, and he said no. (I'd like to see just for once, a video of what these imposters arrogantly claim to have witnessed. There are no such videos!) The man became frustrated after he realized that I knew my Bible and wasn't buying into what he was dishing out. Talk is cheap and I'm not buying any.

John 15:24 plainly states that Jesus had “done among them the works which NONE OTHER MAN DID.” Only the Lord (and the Apostles for a short time with the power that the Lord gave them) were able to make the blind to see, the deaf to hear, and the lame to walk. Only during the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ and shortly thereafter were amputees healed, that the unbelieving might believe. That's exactly what Jesus said in John 14:11, “Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else BELIEVE ME FOR THE VERY WORKS' SAKE.”

Once the Word of God was completed with the book of Revelation, the sign gifts, wonders, and miracles ceased. In fact, the Apostolic miracles, such as healing, ended about 38 years before the completion of the Bible (Acts 28:1-9 being the last recorded miracle). Certainly, God still heals today, but James 5:15 plainly states that “THE LORD shall raise him up.” God does not heal at the hand of TV preachers or faith-healers; but rather, in response to one's prayer of faith (IF it is His will to do so).

Anyone who claims that PHYSICAL healing was purchased on the cross, and that by faith people are guaranteed PHYSICAL healing, are full of bologna!!! The healing which Christ purchased for us on the cross is SALVATION!!!

Tawaf (dalam Bahasa Inggeris ialah "circumambulation" yang diambil dari perkataan Latin iaitu circum around + ambulātus untuk berjalan) adalah tindakan bergerak mengelilingi objek suci atau berhala. [1]

Konsep tawaf samalah dengan konsep ATOM, di mana Elektron mengelilingi Nukleus (Proton dan Neutron). Juga sama dengan konsep pusaran air, angin ribut taufan, bulan mengelilingi bumi, planet-planet mengelilingi matahari dalam sistem suria (Solar System), begitu juga dengan sistem suria kita pula beredar mengelilingi Galaksi Bima Sakti (Milky Way Galaxy) dan begitulah seterusnya.

Tawaf kuil atau imej dewa merupakan sebahagian daripada dan amalan kebaktian Hindu danBuddha (dikenali dalam bahasa Sanskrit sebagai pradakśiṇā). [2] Ia juga terdapat dalam agama-agama lain, termasuk agama Yahudi, Kristian, Sikh, Baha'i, Islam dan sebagainya.

Berikut adalah secara sepintas lalu contoh tawaf yang ada dalam pelbagai agama. Kalau nak cerita semua, panjang lah pula jadinya, maka saya berikan beberapa contoh sahaja dalam agama-agama besar dunia.

Tawaf dalam Agama Hindu

Parikrama atau Pradakshina merujuk kepada Tawaf tempat-tempat suci dalam Hindu, Jain atau konteks Buddha. Parikrama bermaksud "jalan mengelilingi sesuatu" dalam bahasa Sanskrit, dan juga dikenali sebagai Pradakshina ("ke kanan" , Dakshina bermaksud "kanan"), mewakili Tawaf.

Kedua-dua perkataan itu kebanyakannya digunakan dalam konteks dewa agama di sebuah kuil, sungai suci, bukit suci dan kelompok tertutup kuil, dan "melakukan parikrama" sebagai simbol berdoa adalah sebahagian daripada ibadat Hindu. [3]

Penganutnya berjalan mengelilingi garbha griha, ruang terdalam makam perumahan dewa kuil. Ia dilakukan mengelilingi api suci (Agni), pokok-pokok dan tumbuh-tumbuhan juga. Oleh itu Pradakshina dilakukan dengan mengelilingi tumbuhan Tulsi dan pokok Peepal. [4]

Tawaf dalam Agama Yahudi

Dalam agama Yahudi dan Kristian, ada Tawaf Yerikho (Jericho) yang dilakukan oleh Bani Israel dalam Kitab Yoshua. Kepercayaan Yahudi melakukan Tawaf semasa Hoshanah Rabbah pada akhir Pesta Sukkot, dan pengantin perempuan Yahudi Tawaf pengantin lelaki semasa majlis perkahwinan.

Membakar kemenyan di tempat penyembahan ialah adat upacara pendeta-pendeta pada zaman Musa dan Harun.

Tawaf dalam Agama Kristian

Di dalam Gereja Katolik, paderi kadang-kadang Tawaf suatu mezbah semasa membakar kemenyan dengan thurible. Selain itu, di beberapa tempat-tempat suci Katolik, ia adalah satu tradisi untuk tawaf objek kultus tempat itu, biasanya peninggalan seorang yang keramat atau imej Yesus atau Perawan Maria. Selalunya ini dilakukan tiga kali, sebagai merujuk kepada Trinity.

Di Romania, terdapat adat bagi Paskah untuk tawaf gereja tiga kali dengan paderi yang menyanyi mengetuai orang ramai, sebelum menamatkan Paskah Mass. Ia melambangkan perarakan pengkebumian di pengebumian Yesus Kristus. [5]

Tawaf dalam Agama Islam

Umat Islam tawaf mengelilingi Kaabah sambil memuji-muji Allah. Tiada tempat di dunia ini yang selama 24 jam sehari dipenuhi orang tawaf tanpa henti bergilir-gilir begitu, SubhanAllah.



"Segala yang ada di langit dan di bumi tetap mengucap tasbih kepada Allah; dan Dia lah Yang Maha Kuasa, lagi Maha Bijaksana." [Surah Al Hadid : Ayat 1]

Begitu juga jika dilihat pada suatu AZAN yang dilaungkan apabila masuk waktu solat, ianya sentiasa berkesinambungan tanpa henti dari satu tempat ke satu tempat di seluruh dunia ini mengikut waktu-waktunya. Dengan kata lain, AZAN itu diibaratkan suara (memuji dan mengagungkan kebesaran Allah) yang tawaf mengelilingi Bumi tanpa henti, masyaAllah!

Kenapa Azan dikira sebagai tawaf mengelilingi dunia? Kerana suara itu tetap bergema dari satu tempat ke satu tempat, memandangkan masuk waktu solat bagi setiap kawasan berbeza mengikut ukuran masa dalam sehari. Maka suara azan itu seolah-olah berjalan dari satu tempat ke tempat lain, hinggalah 24 jam kemudiannya kembali masuk waktu di tempat permulaan tadi. Ia seolah-olah mengelilingi dunia setiap hari.

Tidak perlu saya ulas lanjut lagi tentang Tawaf di dalam Islam. Anda boleh membaca lanjutannya di tajuk Dari makhluk terkecil hingga makhluk terbesar semuanya bertasbih memuji Allah bagi yang belum membacanya.

Kenapa semua agama ada konsep Tawaf?

Kenapa dalam agama lain selain Islam ada juga konsep tawaf? Itu tidak memeranjatkan keranaagama-agama di dunia ini dulunya berasal dari ajaran para Nabi a.s juga, yang telah banyak dipinda dan diubah-suai oleh umat terkemudian.

Cuma tidak seperti konsep tawaf dalam Islam, yang mana tawaf jemaah Haji di Kaabah dan tawaf azan mengelilingi dunia berlaku sepanjang masa, 24 jam sehari tanpa henti, SubhanAllah!

"Sesungguhnya agama (yang diredhai) di sisi Allah ialah Islam."  [Surah Aali-Imran : ayat 19]

Peluk lah Islam kerana Islam adalah satu-satunya agama yang diredhai dan direstui oleh Allah S.w.t Pencipta Segala Makhluk. Belajar lah tentang Islam yang dibawa oleh Nabi Terakhir yang membawa Perjanjian Terakhir.

Semoga kita dapat mengecapi kebahagiaan di dunia (sementara) dan juga di akhirat (selama-lamanya). Wallahu a'lam ....... :-)
